Ishmael Konney is an Assistant Professor of Dance at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and a Dance Faculty member at the Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts. He holds an MFA in Dance (Ohio State University), MA in African Studies (Ohio University), and BA in Theatre Arts (University of Education, Winneba, Ghana).
His research focuses on Ghanaian cultural heritage, exploring intersections between traditional performance practices and contemporary dance. He previously served on the board of OhioDance and performed with the National Dance Company of Ghana. His artistic work merges Ghanaian storytelling with modern dance to create immersive cultural experiences.
