Ishan G. Thakkar is an Associate Professor and Reese S. Terry Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Kentucky, where he directs the Unconventional Computing Architectures and Technologies (UCAT) Laboratory. He earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Colorado State University.
- Research Focus: Energy-efficient, reliable, and secure computing via unconventional architectures (e.g., silicon photonics, optical computing, neuromorphic systems).
- Key Projects: Photonic accelerators for AI, stochastic computing for error-resilient systems, and 3D memory integration.
