Isabelle Bruno is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Lille (France), affiliated with the CERAPS research laboratory. She holds an HDR (Habilitation to Supervise Research) and is a Junior Member of the University Institute of France (IUF). Her work focuses on sociological studies of property conflicts, coastal management, and quantification practices in governance. She has conducted fieldwork in California on beach access policies and authored influential works on benchmarking and statactivism. Bruno has held visiting scholar positions at Cornell University (USA) and UC Berkeley (USA), and coordinates the international BEACHACCESS research network on coastal inequalities. Her recent research explores how rising sea levels exacerbate property disputes over coastal zones, linking environmental policy to socio-spatial justice.
