Isabella Marinelli

Dr Isabella Marinelli is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Systems Modelling and Quantitative Biomedicine (University of Birmingham), specializing in mathematical biomedicine. Her work bridges Mathematics, Biology, and Medicine through computational modeling of biological systems.

Research focuses on hormone dynamics in physiological and pathological contexts, particularly exploring:

• Stress hormone cortisol's impact on epileptiform activity rhythms
• Hypothalamic corticotrope responses to CRH and AVP
• Biomarker identification for endocrine disorders
• Pancreatic β-cell oscillatory insulin secretion mechanisms

Her recent publications analyze β-cell networks, circadian epilepsy patterns, and glycolytic oscillations.
