Isabell Brikell is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (Karolinska Institutet), with concurrent research positions at the Department of Global Public Health and Primary Care (University of Bergen) and Department of Biomedicine (Aarhus University). Her research integrates register-based epidemiology, genetics, and pharmacoepidemiology to investigate clinical heterogeneity in ADHD and related neurological/psychiatric conditions.

Her work focuses on genetic and environmental risk factors for ADHD, medication discontinuation, and comorbidity with somatic conditions. As principal investigator in the EU-funded TIMESPAN collaboration, she leads multinational studies on ADHD treatment patterns. Recent articles highlight connections between ADHD and cardiometabolic disorders, neurodevelopmental conditions, and infection-related psychiatric risks.
