Isabel María Povea Moreno

Isabel María Povea Moreno is a Researcher at the Center for Research and Advanced Studies in Social Anthropology (CIESAS) in Mexico City, where she has been a professor and researcher since January 2021. She holds a PhD in History from the University of Granada (Spain) and has held academic positions at the University of Granada, the Autonomous University of Baja California, and the Colegio de San Luis as a visiting professor. She was also a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Historical Research (IIH-UNAM) at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

She also serves on the Advisory Board of the journal Temas Americanistas.

Her current research focuses on "Women and Mining: Workers, Investors, and Suppliers in the Mining Economies of New Spain (1700-1821)," which examines the often-overlooked role of women in colonial mining economies.
