Isabel Marta Allona Alberich

Isabel Marta Allona Alberich serves as a University Professor in the Department of Biotechnology - Plant Biology at the Technical University of Madrid, holding this academic rank since 1999 with continued appointment through 2017. She currently directs the Center for Plant Biotechnology and Genomics (CBGP), a UPM-INIA Joint Center, a position assumed in March 2024 after previously serving as Deputy Director since June 2006. Her leadership extends to the Plant Biotechnology research group where she has been Principal Investigator since May 2006.

Her research spans critical agricultural and environmental domains with emphasis on:

• Integrating biotechnological approaches in plant science
• Advancing crop science through physiological and ecological frameworks
• Developing sustainable forestry and agronomy solutions
• Exploring multidisciplinary intersections in plant biology

As Director of CBGP, she oversees a major research infrastructure bridging the Technical University of Madrid and Spain's National Institute for Agricultural and Food Research. Her team focuses on genomic applications for food security and environmental resilience, directing institutional strategy for plant biotechnology research across national and European collaborative frameworks.
