Isabel Lousada

Isabel Lousada is a tenured Assistant Researcher at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FCSH) of Nova University of Lisbon, Portugal. She serves as an integrated member of CICS.NOVA (Interdisciplinary Center for Social Sciences) within the research group Desigualdades Sociais e Ação Pública and the research team Género e Sexualidades. Additionally, she collaborates with CLEPUL (Center for Lusophone and European Literary and Cultural Studies) at the University of Lisbon's Faculty of Letters.

Her educational qualifications include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Modern Languages and Literatures (1984) from Nova University of Lisbon
• Master’s degree in Anglo-Portuguese Studies (1989) from Nova University of Lisbon
• Doctoral degree in Anglo-Portuguese Studies (1999) from Nova University of Lisbon

Dr. Lousada's research centers on Women’s Studies with specialized focus on female authorship during Portugal's transition from Monarchy to Republic. She employs intersectional analysis to examine women's contributions to periodical press, revealing socioeconomic and cultural dynamics through literary-historical frameworks. Her scholarly output spans academic journals, books, and book chapters, while her teaching encompasses scientific methodology and interdisciplinary courses on Feminisms exploring literature-sociology intersections.

Her institutional engagement spans CICS.NOVA's research infrastructure, where she contributes to projects on social inequalities, public policy, and gender/sexuality studies within Portugal's academic landscape.
