Isabel Fraga Carou

Isabel Fraga Carou is a Professor of Basic Psychology at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) within the Faculty of Psychology and the Department of Social, Basic and Methodological Psychology. She currently serves as the scientific director of the Institute of Psychology (IPsiUS) at USC and has held leadership roles such as Vice-Dean of Academic Organization and Degree in the Faculty of Psychology, and Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Psychological Processes and Social Behavior.

• PhD in Psychology (1992) from USC with thesis Effects of Model Observation on Smoking Behavior, supervised by Dr. Cástor Méndez Paz.

Her research focuses on the Psychology of Language, particularly brain activity associated with morphosyntactic processing and its interaction with affective processing. She has contributed to the development of emotional word corpora and digital tools for psycholinguistic research, and has led multiple regional and national projects as principal investigator.

As director of the Cognitive Processes and Behavior Research Group since 2008, she has advanced studies in behavioral cognition. She is actively involved in academic evaluation, serving as a reviewer for international journals and as an evaluator for the Spanish Research Agency, ACCUA, and AQU.
