Isabel Canfield is a Research Fellow at the Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership, United States Naval Academy. She completed her PhD in Philosophy at the University of Notre Dame and holds a BA in Philosophy and Law & Society from Oberlin College (2018). Her work bridges theoretical inquiry with practical ethical challenges in medicine and military contexts.
Education:
- Oberlin College, BA (2018) in Philosophy and Law & Society, with a concentration in Peace and Conflict Studies
- University of Notre Dame, PhD in Philosophy (recently completed)
Research Interests:
- Moral philosophy and ethics
- Philosophy of action
- Collective agency in group decision-making
- Ethical dilemmas in medical practice and wartime scenarios
Additional Experience: Prior to graduate studies, Isabel conducted research at Baylor College of Medicine’s Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy. She currently resides with her dog Benji.
