Isaac Selva Raj is an Associate Professor in Exercise and Sports Science at Swinburne University's Faculty of Health. He holds an adjunct role as Senior Lecturer at Edith Cowan University and chairs the Exercise and Sport Science course advisory committee at Swinburne. He earned his PhD from RMIT University in 2012, focusing on eccentric weight training in older adults. His research emphasizes exercise interventions for health outcomes across populations including older adults, clinical patients, and athletes, contributing to UN SDGs related to health and well-being.
Research focuses include postural stability assessment, cardiovascular benefits of exercise for hypertension, muscle architecture analysis, and technology-driven behavioral change for physical activity. He has supervised postgraduate research and published extensively on topics like fitness tracker efficacy and musculoskeletal test validity. His work bridges clinical applications with population health strategies, leveraging systematic reviews and meta-analyses to inform evidence-based practice.
