Irène Hirt

Irène Hirt is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography and Environment at the University of Geneva since 2018. She directs the Master's program in Political and Cultural Geography and has held research positions at Laval University and the CNRS Passages Laboratory in Bordeaux, France. Her work bridges academic research with community engagement in Indigenous contexts.

Research Interests:
Her research focuses on Indigenous territorialities in the Americas, critical cartography, and postcolonial approaches. She emphasizes participatory and intercultural methodologies to analyze how cartography intersects with Indigenous land struggles and identity preservation.
