Dr. Iryna Marchuk is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Copenhagen, where she has held positions since 2008 (progressing from PhD Fellow to Associate Professor). She leads the EASTERNISATION project (2023–2026), funded by the Danish Research Fund, examining Russia and China's impact on the regionalization of international law. She teaches graduate courses in International Criminal Law and Procedure, Human Rights, Democracy and Digital Technology, and Regulating Big Tech.

Her research focuses on accountability in armed conflicts (notably the Russia-Ukraine war), international courts, strategic litigation, and human rights-technology intersections. She analyzes how powerful states influence international law and develops frameworks for justice in conflict zones. Recent work emphasizes domestic war crimes trials and ICJ litigation strategies.
She supervises master's/bachelor's students in international/Danish criminal law, public international law, and human rights technology. No scientific awards are documented.
As Principal Investigator for the EASTERNISATION project, she coordinates research on destabilization of the international legal order. Previous roles include Head of PhD Education (2013–2016) and memberships in university research committees.
