Irving Aguirre serves as Assistant Professor and Program Director of Audio Production in the College of Fine Arts at Wichita State University, specializing in live acoustic music recording for classical and jazz genres while providing premier digital media and voice recording services. He is the faculty sponsor of the student AES section and operates Shocker Studios facilities.
His academic credentials include:
- BS in Engineering Mathematics and Statistics with minor in Music from UC Berkeley
- MA in Audio Sciences, Recording and Production from Johns Hopkins University Peabody Institute
Irving's research integrates scientific precision with artistic innovation in high-fidelity audio capture and emerging recording technologies. His methodology draws from diverse musical experiences spanning Andean ensembles, worship leadership, rap production, classical guitar, Javanese Gamelan, Erhu, and oboe performance, creating a unique interdisciplinary approach to acoustic optimization.
Through Aguirre Audio, he provides cutting-edge microphone rentals while advancing university studio capabilities with state-of-the-art equipment. Recent industry collaborations include scoring projects at Warner Brothers, Blackbird Studio, and Skywalker Sound, demonstrating his professional leadership in the audio engineering field.
