Iris-Stefania Pasniceanu is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Oxford's Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences. She holds a BSc in Biomedical Science and an MSc in Human and Molecular Genetics from the University of Sheffield, followed by a DPhil focused on neurophysiological dysfunction in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
Her research aims to develop novel ALS treatments by repurposing existing drugs, particularly calcium channel blockers, tested in mouse and human stem cell-based models to assess their protective effects on motor neurons. This work is funded by the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation.
She is affiliated with the Oxford Motor Neuron Disease Centre and utilizes stem cell technology and electrophysiology in her studies.
