Dr. Iris Mamier serves as an Associate Professor in the Graduate Nursing program at Loma Linda University School of Nursing, where she has been full-time faculty since 2009. She coordinates the global track of the online PhD in Nursing program, which she helped launch in 2023 to expand doctoral education access for international students.
Her research focuses on whole-person care and nursing spiritual care in response to patient and family suffering and illness. Dr. Mamier was part of an interdisciplinary team that developed the wholeness definition, spiritual history tool SOUL, and the CLEAR Whole Person Care Model. Her scholarly work addresses how nurses provide spiritual care, prayer at the bedside, and the relationship between spirituality and nursing practice across diverse healthcare settings.
Dr. Mamier's recent publications demonstrate a strong trajectory toward expanding global nursing capacity while maintaining her foundational work in spiritual care. Her research spans clinical practice, education, and cross-cultural healthcare approaches, with particular attention to how spiritual dimensions of care impact patient outcomes and nurse well-being.
As a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, she has held leadership roles including Vice President, President, and Past President of the Gamma Alpha chapter. She serves as a reviewer for multiple prestigious nursing journals including the Journal of Christian Nursing, Western Journal of Nursing Research, and American Journal of Critical Care.
University service is integral to Dr. Mamier's contributions. She has served on the University Faculty Council (as chair-elect, chair, and past-chair through 2024), Faculty of Graduate Studies, Center for Spiritual Life & Wholeness, and has participated in international accreditation visits to Adventist universities globally, demonstrating her commitment to advancing nursing education worldwide.
