Dr. Iris Goode-Middleton is an Assistant Professor of Theatre at Hampton University and serves as the Director of both student theatre and liberal studies. She holds a diverse academic background, including a PhD in Communication from Liberty University.

- PhD in Communication from Liberty University
Her research and creative work focus on Black theatre, self-communication, and the intersection of media with Black women and girls' self-perception, which inspired her emerging Black Consonance and Dissonance theory. She is also the author of the forthcoming book Soulful Reflections, Affirming Self-Talk for Black Women (December 2024).
Dr. Goode-Middleton actively contributes to professional organizations, serving as co-chair of the College and University division on the Virginia Theatre Association, assistant treasurer for the Black Theatre Network, and board member of the African-American Newport News Historical Society. She founded the Goode Dance Project and The Good Girl Group, initiatives promoting self-care and positive self-talk for women and girls.
