Irini Kalaitzidi is a Lecturer in Computing at Goldsmiths, University of London, specializing in computational arts and AI-driven creative practices. Her work explores intersections between dance, technology, and critical theory, challenging anthropocentric norms through performances, installations, and research. She holds an MA in Computational Arts (Goldsmiths, 2019), Dance and Choreography (National School of Dance, 2018), and a BA in Nutrition and Dietetics (Harokopio University, 2014).
Research focuses on AI ethics, human action recognition, and posthuman choreography. Notable projects include As Uncanny As a Body (GAN-generated body distortions), yaGrid (speculative video grid performance), and Feeding Birds (AI annotation critique). Recent awards include the BeFantastic Within Fellow (2022) and ARTWORKS Dance Fellowship (2020).
Teaching includes courses on AI for Media (UAL) and Data/ML in Artistic Practice. Her work has been presented globally at Somerset House, ImpulsTanz Vienna, and the V&A Museum. Collaborations span institutions like ICST Zurich, Motion Bank, and Onassis Cultural Centre.
