Dr. Irina Morozova is a historian specializing in modern and contemporary Central and Inner Asian history, affiliated with the Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies at the University of Regensburg. Her research focuses on socialist revolutions, Cold War global history, economic reforms, and geopolitical security in Eurasia.
- Education: PhD in History (2002) from Lomonosov Moscow State University, with postdoctoral work on Central Asian economic reforms (2015-2021).
Morozova's research explores the social and cultural dimensions of perestroika in Central Asia and Mongolia, analyzing how ideological shifts and elite discourses reshaped societies. Her work bridges comparative area studies, imperial legacies, and post-socialist transitions.
Her recent publications examine topics like the paradox of Soviet modernity, neoliberal revolutions in Mongolia, and elite dynamics in Kyrgyzstan, reflecting trends in economic reform, resource dependency, and geopolitical narratives. These works highlight intersections of ideology, economic policy, and regional autonomy.
