Dr. Irina Marin is an Assistant Professor in Political History at Utrecht University, affiliated with the Department of History and Art History and part of the Humanities Research Institute for History and Art History. She coordinates the MA programme History of Politics and Society.
- PhD in History from University College London
- Previous teaching roles at University College London, University of Oxford, University of Leicester, and University of Augsburg
Her research focuses on imperial borderlands, nationalism, identity politics, and social violence in Central and Eastern Europe. Her publications include two monographs analyzing intersections of rural unrest and ethnic tensions.
She has received grants from the Leverhulme Trust, Ratiu Family Foundation, Vienna Wiesenthal Institute for Holocaust Studies, and IWM (Institut für die Wissenschaften vom Menschen) via the EURIAS Fellowship Programme.

- Honorable Mention (2019) from the American Society for Romanian Studies for her book on antisemitism and peasant violence
