معرفی
Professor Irina Boiko is affiliated with Riga Technical University (RTU), serving as a Professor and Lead Researcher at the Institute of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering within the Faculty of Civil and Mechanical Engineering. Additionally, she holds the role of RTU Intellectual Property Specialist in the Vice-Rector’s Office for Innovation, Cooperation, and Technology Transfer. Her research focuses on tribological properties of nanostructured coatings, wear calculations of metal surfaces, welding technologies, and advanced material characterization.
Professor Boiko leads the Material Surface Characterization and Tribology Group, emphasizing interdisciplinary research in surface engineering and high-tech applications. Over the past decade, she has supervised six successfully defended doctoral theses in wear/friction, welding, and metrology. She has authored 50 international publications and holds four patents, contributing to innovations like carbon-enriched nanostructured coatings produced via high-power magnetically compressed plasma methods.
Key projects include leading the LZP-funded project (2020–2022) on developing multifunctional nanostructured coatings for high-tech applications. Her work bridges fundamental research and industrial applications, with a focus on enhancing material durability and surface performance.
