معرفی
Irene Villalta Alonso is a Research Engineer at the Institute for Research on Insect Biology (IRBI) affiliated with the University of Tours. Her primary affiliation is within the Department of Biological Engineering (GB), part of the UMR CNRS 7261 research unit. She also holds teaching responsibilities at Polytech Tours in Planning and Environmental Engineering.
Her research focuses on anthropogenic stressors affecting insect populations, including thermal tolerance in social insects (e.g., Aphaenogaster iberica, Lasius niger), urbanization impacts on wild bee diversity, and agricultural practices' effects on plant-pollinator networks in agroecosystems. Methodologies include DNA barcoding, pollen metabarcoding, and combined ecological experiments.
Professional history includes postdoctoral positions at the Doñana Biological Station (2014-2018) and the Institute of Natural Resources and Agrobiology of Seville (2007-2012), following her 2003-2007 PhD in Life Sciences from the University of Valencia under Dr. MJ Asíns' supervision.
Current work integrates terrestrial and aquatic biodiversity assessments, emphasizing ecological network dynamics and ecosystem service contributions from insects.
