Irene Varglund is a Researcher at the Metsähovi Radio Observatory, Aalto University. She holds a Doctoral degree (2024), Master's (2019), and Bachelor's (2017) in Engineering and Technology from Aalto University. Her research focuses on active galactic nuclei (AGN), relativistic jets, and galaxy classification systems. She has contributed to studies of radio variability in AGN, host galaxy dynamics, and multiwavelength observations of Seyfert galaxies. Recent work includes analysis of low-luminosity compact sources and radio flares in AGN. Varglund has co-organized the Young European Radio Astronomers Conference (2022) and authored/co-authored over 11 publications since 2020.
Research interests span astrophysical phenomena such as black hole accretion, radio emission mechanisms, and observational astronomy techniques. Her work combines data from radio observatories like Metsähovi with X-ray and optical telescopes to study AGN evolution. Collaborations include international teams analyzing variability patterns and host galaxy properties of Seyfert galaxies. Key contributions include identifying correlations between multiwavelength emissions and characterizing early-stage AGN behavior.
