Irene Salvo is a Temporary Assistant Professor at the Department of Cultures and Civilizations, University of Verona, specializing in Greek History (STAN-01/A academic sector). She is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Cognitive Historiography and Series Editor for Women in Ancient Cultures (Liverpool University Press).

- Co-leader of British Academy Network on women in Greek epigraphy
- British Epigraphy Society steering committee member
- Associate Editor for Current Epigraphy
Her research explores socio-cultural history of the Greek-speaking world, focusing on religion, magic, and cognitive approaches to ancient rituals. She investigates emotional embodiment, gender constructions, and trauma in antiquity through epigraphic evidence from the Eastern Mediterranean. Her third-mission work includes:
- Mindful Classics project (University of Exeter, 2020)
- A Regenerating Odyssey: VR-based workshops combining ancient philosophies with modern mindfulness (RSA Catalyst Award, 2022/23)
She supervises theses on Greek religion, epigraphy, women/childhood studies, and queer approaches to antiquity.
