Irene Coralli

Irene Coralli is a Research Fellow and Teaching Tutor at the Department of Chemistry "Giacomo Ciamician" at the University of Bologna. Her research centers on analytical pyrolysis applications for environmental analysis.

Coralli specializes in characterizing microplastics, bioplastics, and polymers using Py-GC-MS techniques. Her work investigates environmental behaviors of polymers, microplastic toxicity mechanisms, and sustainable waste management solutions including CO2 capture materials and agricultural biochar applications.

Recent publications demonstrate focus on microplastic detection standardization, gut microbiota impacts, and thermal degradation pathways in composites. She actively develops novel analytical methods like pyrolysis acetylation for nitrogen-containing polymers.

Coralli teaches Analytical Chemistry 3 and mentors Master's students in Advanced Cosmetic Sciences at the University of Bologna.
