Irene Cassidy is an Associate Professor at the University of Limerick, affiliated with the School of Nursing & Midwifery, Ageing Research Centre, and Health Research Institute. She holds a PhD from UL, an MSc from the University of Manchester, and a Bachelor of Nursing from University College Dublin. Her research focuses on Quality of Life in aging populations, living with Parkinson’s, long-term conditions, and palliative care. Teaching interests include nursing education and competency-based assessments.
Key contributions include studies on intergenerational programs between older adults and nursing students, mental health in aging, and caregiver responses to vaccination. She has published over 60 peer-reviewed articles and contributed to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being.
