معرفی
Irene Andreu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical, Biomolecular, and Materials Engineering at the University of Rhode Island's College of Engineering. Her research focuses on magnetic nanoparticles, biomaterials, nanoparticle-assisted drug delivery, and nanomaterial safety, with applications in biomedical systems and environmental monitoring.
- Ph.D. in Physics, Universidad de Zaragoza (2015)
- M.S. in Physics and Physical Technology, Universidad de Zaragoza (2011)
- Licentiate in Physics (Condensed Matter concentration), Universidad de Zaragoza (2010)
Her research explores nanoparticle synthesis, functionalization, and environmental interactions. Key projects include developing magnetic nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems, investigating nanoparticle safety in workplaces, and utilizing nanomaterials for Martian water reuse and biofilm mitigation via NSF-funded grants.
Recent publications highlight her work on porous microspheres for antigen delivery, plasmon-tuned particles for Raman spectroscopy, and environmental fate of nanomaterials. Collaborations span virology, polymer chemistry, and environmental toxicology.
She has received grants including the Rhode Island Space Grant (2023) and NSF ERI funding (2023) for magnetic nanoparticle applications. Her expertise bridges materials engineering, nanotechnology, and biomedical solutions.
