Irena Stepanikova

Irena Stepanikova is an Associate Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She holds a PhD in Sociology from Stanford University, with additional MA degrees in Psychology and English from Masaryk University (Czech Republic) and Stanford University, and a BA in Psychology and English from Campbellsville University. Her research focuses on social determinants of health, physician-patient communication, and health disparities related to perceived discrimination.

She teaches courses in medical sociology and social psychology, and her methodological expertise includes quantitative research. Dr. Stepanikova can be contacted at irena@uab.edu or reached through her office in Heritage Hall 460. Office hours are available by appointment.
