Irena Borzym

Irena Borzym serves as a Sir Harvey McGrath College Associate Professor and Director of Studies in Mathematics at St Catharine's College, Cambridge. She also holds an appointment as an Affiliated Lecturer at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) within the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge. Having joined as a Fellow in 1999, Dr. Borzym maintains an active research presence in theoretical physics while providing academic leadership at her college.

Her research program centers on Twistor Theory and Relativity, continuing Cambridge's legacy of excellence in gravitational physics. Twistor theory represents a sophisticated mathematical framework for understanding spacetime geometry with applications in quantum gravity research. Beyond her specialized research, Dr. Borzym demonstrates significant commitment to promoting mathematical literacy, reflecting her dedication to both advanced theoretical work and broader educational impact across multiple levels of mathematical understanding.

As Director of Studies in Mathematics at St Catharine's College, she oversees academic programming, curriculum development, and student mentorship for mathematics undergraduates.
