Iram Hussain

Iram Hussain, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, specializing in endocrinology with a focus on thyroid diseases, including thyroid nodules, cancer, and minimally invasive treatments like ethanol and radiofrequency ablation. She joined the faculty in 2015 and is dual board-certified in internal medicine and endocrinology. Dr. Hussain holds advanced certifications, including Endocrine Certification in Neck Ultrasound (ECNU) and Certified Clinical Densitometrist (CCD), enabling her to provide integrated diagnostic and therapeutic services. She is actively involved in trainee education, serving on the Clinical Core Competency Committee for the endocrinology fellowship program.

Her education includes a medical degree from King Edward Medical University (Pakistan), followed by internal medicine residency in Austin, Texas, and an endocrinology fellowship at UT Southwestern. Dr. Hussain’s research spans thyroid disorders, lipodystrophy syndromes, and metabolic diseases. She has authored numerous academic articles and presented invited lectures, with a focus on interventional endocrinology and rare endocrine conditions. She currently serves as President of the North American Society for Interventional Endocrinologists.

Her clinical work combines advanced diagnostic imaging with procedural expertise, offering same-day ultrasound-guided interventions. Her research and publications highlight innovations in thyroid and parathyroid ablation techniques, genetic syndromes linked to lipodystrophy, and post-viral autoimmune thyroid conditions.
