Iona Lyell

Dr Iona Lyell is an Honorary Researcher at the Lancaster Medical School, part of Lancaster University. Her research focuses on public health, gender norms, and social determinants of health.

Lyell’s work explores the intersection of societal gender norms and cardiovascular disease outcomes, as evidenced by her 2023 publication in BMJ Open. This ecological study highlights the relationship between gender inequality indices and cardiovascular mortality rates across populations.
