Ioannis Tzoutzas

Ioannis Tzoutzas is a Visiting Professor of Ergonomics and Infection Control in Dental Practice at the European University Cyprus (Nicosia, Cyprus) and a long-serving Faculty Member at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (School of Dentistry). He holds dual affiliations with extensive experience in dental materials science, infection control protocols, and clinical dentistry.

His academic qualifications include a Professorship in Operative Dentistry from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2016), with a thesis on bond strength of composite resins in dental enamel. He has maintained continuous employment at both institutions since 1981 and 2020 respectively.

Research interests focus on dental materials, infection control, laser applications, and public health implications of dental practice. Notable contributions include studies on composite-resin bonding, financial crisis impacts on dental health, and laser safety protocols. He has coordinated several funded projects, including monitoring amalgam separators' efficacy and VOC emissions in dental offices.

Awarded the 1st Prize at the SOLA International Congress (2014) for laser plume monitoring research, Tzoutzas actively participates in European dental policy committees, including the Council of European Dentists' Working Groups on Infection Control and Dental Materials. He has led the Total Care Clinic at NKUA and chairs patient safety initiatives at the European level.
