Ioannis S. Pantelidis is a Professor of Hospitality and Tourism Management and Head of the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Ulster University Business School. He previously held leadership positions including Director of Help to Grow and Knowledge Exchange Lead at the School of Business and Law, and Director of Doctoral Studies for Brighton Doctoral College. Pantelidis serves on the Advisory Board for Be Inclusive Hospitality and has held executive roles with The Council for Hospitality Management Education as Past Chair (2018-2021).

Professor Pantelidis focuses on applied research with practical implications for industry and society. His primary research interests include digital, online, and mobile technologies in consumer behavior; big data applications in hospitality; sustainable food technologies; social media addiction; and entrepreneurship within tourism and hospitality contexts. He has developed innovative projects such as menumuseum.co.uk, which explores the intersection of technology, food, and cultural heritage, and has created hospitality initiatives that leave a legacy including the Passion4Hospitality awards and the world's first pop-up hotel school.
His recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on disruptive innovation in hospitality, particularly examining Airbnb's impact on traditional accommodations. Pantelidis analyzes how licensed accommodations are adapting to platform-based competition through collaborative strategies. His work also addresses critical industry issues including equity, diversity, and inclusion through initiatives like the Be Inclusive Hospitality report, which examines these topics through a race lens.

He serves as Editor in Chief for Tourism and Hospitality Research and Hospitality Editor for the Journal of Hospitality, Leisure, Sport & Tourism Education, while also sitting on the editorial boards of seven additional journals. His approach to teaching emphasizes experiential learning, co-creation, and technology integration to facilitate peer assessment and industry engagement.
Through his "Spirit of Philoxenia" blog and YouTube channel, Pantelidis extends his academic work into digital storytelling and industry engagement.
