Ioannis Kalpouzos is a Visiting Professor at Harvard Law School specializing in public international law, international criminal law, the law of war, and human rights law. He has taught at institutions including King’s College London, City, University of London, and Boston University School of Law.
Education: PhD (University of Nottingham, 2011), LL.M. (University of Nottingham, 2006), LL.B. (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, 2004).
His research focuses on war & occupation, environmental justice, supply chain accountability, and migration & border violence. He co-founded the Global Legal Action Network (GLAN) and has collaborated with legal clinics at Harvard, Stanford, and King’s College London. Recent work includes projects on Western Sahara resource exploitation, air-strike analysis in Yemen, and climate change’s intersection with international law.
Key publications address autonomous weapons systems, legal frameworks for targeting in warfare, and the treatment of asylum seekers. He received a collaborative grant from Harvard Law School’s Institute of Global Law and Policy for research on law and emerging technologies.
