Innie Chen

Dr. Innie Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Cross-Appointed in the School of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Medicine. She also serves as an Associate Scientist at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute and Staff Physician at The Ottawa Hospital.

Dr. Chen's research focuses on reproductive health disparities, menstrual disorders, and gynecologic surgical outcomes. She investigates equity in surgical care, safety protocols, and healthcare utilization for women with uterine diseases using population-based epidemiologic methods and database analysis. Her work bridges clinical practice with public health policy to improve women's healthcare access and quality.

Her research is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and Ontario Physicians’ Services Incorporated Foundation, with key partnerships including the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada and Canadian Institute for Health Information for national hysterectomy practice studies.

At the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute's Clinical Epidemiology Program, Dr. Chen leads collaborative research initiatives from the Shirley E. Greenberg Women’s Health Centre, where she provides subspecialty care for complex gynecologic conditions through minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery.
