Inken Knop

Inken Knop is a researcher at the Institute of Fluid Mechanics, part of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Technische Universität Braunschweig. Her research focuses on experimental investigations of wind turbine icing conditions, droplet size measurement, and heat transfer analysis. She is currently on parental leave (from December 2023) and can be reached via i.knop@tu-braunschweig.de or through Mariachiara Gallia for urgent matters.

Knop’s work involves improving spray systems in icing wind tunnels, ice accretion experiments on wind turbine airfoils, and assessing simulation tools for ice prediction. Her projects also examine anti-icing/de-icing capabilities using internal heated air flow. Key research interests include renewable energy systems, fluid dynamics under extreme conditions, and experimental validation of climate models.

She is based at the Transfer Service University Sports Center and contributes to TU Braunschweig’s strategic research goals in mechanical engineering and sustainable energy technologies.
