Inimary Toby, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Biology at the University of Dallas. She holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from The Ohio State University College of Medicine, with additional certificates in Biostatistics and Translational Research. Her research focuses on lung cellular/molecular physiology, bioinformatics, and computational biology, particularly using high-throughput sequencing and machine learning to study cardiovascular and respiratory diseases. Dr. Toby has over 15 years of scientific experience, including roles at institutions like UT Southwestern Medical Center and the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
Her lab investigates cell signaling in lung diseases and immune repertoire sequencing, collaborating with organizations like Penn State College of Medicine and NIH BioLINCC. She teaches courses such as Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, maintaining GitHub repositories for student projects. Current projects include analyzing immune repertoires in ARDS, machine learning applications in genomics, and the effects of vaping on human epithelium.
Dr. Toby has secured grants including the ARDS private fund, Women in Immune Driven Medicine (Adaptive Biotechnologies), and the Marcus Fund for Research. She actively participates in scientific societies and has delivered workshops on bioinformatics and data analysis. Her work has led to the development of tools like VDJServer and databases such as ARDS-DB.
