Dr. Nedberg's research primarily centers on maternal and newborn health, with two major ongoing projects: teenage pregnancies and perinatal outcomes during the COVID-19 pandemic in Georgia using the Georgian Birth Registry, and women's assessments of maternity care quality using the IMAGINE EURO study questionnaires. Her work frequently examines cesarean section rates, healthcare quality metrics, and the impact of policies on maternal outcomes across different healthcare systems.
Her extensive publication record from 2017-2024 demonstrates a consistent focus on comparative healthcare systems research, particularly examining maternity care quality across European countries. The publications reveal strong methodological expertise in registry-based studies, cross-national comparisons, and mixed-methods approaches to understanding maternal healthcare experiences during the pandemic.
Dr. Nedberg serves as main supervisor for one PhD student and co-supervisor for another PhD student. She is course leader for JMO-3005: Theory of Science, Research Ethics and Research Methods in Midwifery, and teaches quantitative methods, research literature assessment, and simulation training in the Master's program in Midwifery.
She is an active member of several research groups including Public Health and Rehabilitation, Global and Environmental Health, and participates in projects examining the relationship between mental health and body mass index using The Tromsø Study data.
