معرفی
Ingrid Young is an Affiliate Research Fellow at the School of Social & Political Sciences, University of Glasgow. Her work focuses on HIV prevention strategies, biomedicalization of health interventions, and the sociopolitical dimensions of public health policies. She has conducted extensive research on pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), treatment as prevention (TasP), and sexual health literacy among marginalized groups such as men who have sex with men (MSM) and communities of Black African ethnicity.
Her research interests include biopolitical frameworks, health equity, and the intersection of stigma, identity, and healthcare access. She has collaborated on studies analyzing HIV testing innovations (e.g., self-sampling kits) and the ethical implications of community segmentation in public health strategies. Her work bridges sociology, public health, and critical medical anthropology, addressing systemic barriers to equitable healthcare provision.
Notable contributions include examining normative constructions of 'biosexual citizenship' in PrEP provision, evaluating the acceptability of biomedical HIV prevention tools, and developing conceptual frameworks for sexual health literacy. Her publications frequently appear in interdisciplinary journals like Sociology of Health and Illness, Culture, Health and Sexuality, and Dialogues in Human Geography.
Young’s research emphasizes participatory methodologies, collaborating with clinical practitioners, community organizations, and affected populations to ensure interventions are contextually appropriate and equitable. She has also contributed to data archiving initiatives, advocating for sustainable reuse of qualitative research findings across long-term projects.
