Ingrid Semaan is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Connecticut (UConn), affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She specializes in feminist activism, gender-based violence, and reproductive justice. Her research examines women’s agency in contexts of intimate partner abuse and resistance to coercive control. She is also involved in abolitionist education initiatives and Middle East peace advocacy.

Research Interests:
- Gender-based violence and survivor agency
- Reproductive and workers’ justice
- Peace and justice in the Middle East
- Activist pedagogy and feminist theory
Her publications explore intersections of mothering, abuse, and resistance, as well as innovative classroom practices in women’s studies. Recent work includes co-curating the exhibit All Byte: Feminist Intersections in Video Art (2016).

In addition to academic roles, Semaan advises student groups and co-developed The People’s Saturday School, an abolitionist education program. She has been consistently honored for her mentorship and commitment to social justice causes.
