Dr. Ingrid Otto serves as a Lecturer at the University of Hildesheim within the Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship and their Didactics, part of the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Economics and Computer Science. With a career spanning over three decades, she has established herself as a specialist in economics didactics and historical education research since joining the university as a visiting lecturer in 2002.
Her educational background includes a Diploma in Pedagogy (1980) and a PhD from the University of Hildesheim (1988). She holds teaching qualifications for both primary/secondary school (German, History, Arts) and secondary school (Evangelical Religion and Economics). Prior to her university position, she served as a subject seminar leader for German (1994-2005) and Economics (2005-2023) at teacher training seminaries in Hameln and Hannover.
Dr. Otto's research focuses on historical education patterns, particularly examining gender dynamics in educational development. Her work spans from 19th century bourgeois daughter education to contemporary teaching methodologies. She has made significant contributions to curriculum development, especially for the Health and Social profile in secondary schools in Lower Saxony.
