Ingrid Lundberg

Professor Ingrid Lundberg is a Senior Professor at Karolinska Institutet's Department of Medicine, Solna, within the research group led by Per-Johan Jakobsson and Team Helene Alexanderson. Her work focuses on chronic inflammation, particularly in rheumatology and cancer-related autoimmunity. She holds a Docent degree from Karolinska Institutet (1998).

Her research emphasizes idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM), autoantibody profiling, and the pathogenesis of conditions like dermatomyositis and antisynthetase syndrome. She has contributed to classification criteria and genetic studies in myositis, as well as clinical trials evaluating therapies like abatacept and CAR T-cell approaches.

Awards include the 2022 Grand Silver Medal from Karolinska Institutet and an honorary doctorate from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2025). She leads the internationally recognized Myositis Clinic, which received the 2024 Heroes in Healthcare award for its research and patient care innovations.
