Ingrid Anderson is a Senior Lecturer at Boston University’s Department of Religious Studies, specializing in modern and contemporary Jewish philosophy, theology, and political thought. She holds a Ph.D. in Religious Studies (2013), an M.A. in Judaic Studies (2005), and a B.A. in English and Women’s Studies (1997), all from Boston University.
Her research focuses on ethical frameworks emerging from Holocaust studies, Jewish political thought, and existentialist philosophy. Notable works include Ethics and Suffering Since the Holocaust (Routledge) and explorations of thinkers like Levinas, Wiesel, and Camus. She examines intersections between Jewish identity, cultural narratives, and contemporary ethical dilemmas.
Her articles analyze topics ranging from Muscular Judaism (2022) to the co-option of Jewish messianism by the Third Reich (2005). Her writing often bridges philosophy, theology, and historical context, emphasizing ethical imperatives in post-Holocaust thought.
