Dr. Ingolf Becker is an Associate Professor in Security and Crime Science at University College London (UCL), where he has served since 2019. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (2019) and Master of Research (2013) from UCL, along with a BSc (2011) from Imperial College London. As a member of UCL's Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber-Security Research (ACE-CSR) and a Principal Investigator at the Research Institute in Socio-Technical Security (RISCS), he leads UCL's component of the 3-year EPSRC-funded 3PO project (Protecting public-facing professionals online).

His research focuses on human-centred security and privacy, emphasizing systems/policies that balance security with productivity. Recent publications analyze EU financial regulations (MiCA/DORA), GDPR evolution, and IoT security dynamics, with over 250 citations across his work. His research has been recognized with Best Paper at HICSS 2021 and UCL CISO Research Collaboration Award for student supervision.
As Program Director for UCL's MRes Security Science, he teaches SECU0043/0049 Cybercrime modules and supervises 10-15 BSc/MSc dissertations annually. He actively serves on NSPW program committees, chairs UCL's Departmental Ethics Committee, and contributes to REPHRAIN academic ethics board.
