Prof. Ingo Frank Witt is a full professor at the Mathematical Institute of the University of Göttingen, Germany. He serves as principal investigator and professor for the Research Training Group 2491: Fourier Analysis and Spectral Theory. His research focuses on nonlinear partial differential equations, spectral theory, and microlocal analysis, with particular expertise in shock wave dynamics and mixed-type equations.
Research interests include:
- Analysis of partial differential equations and microlocal techniques
- Spectral and scattering theory for hyperbolic systems
- Global existence and singularity formation in quasilinear wave equations
- Conormal distributions in nonlinear hyperbolic problems
- Geometric aspects of PDEs on singular spaces
His recent publications demonstrate consistent focus on nonlinear wave propagation, shock dynamics, and degenerate hyperbolic systems, with advanced applications in fluid mechanics and mathematical physics. Article themes frequently involve existence proofs, blow-up mechanisms, and low-regularity solutions for complex PDE systems.
Awards include:
- Honorary Doctorate from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (2018)
He currently advises six doctoral students on topics ranging from dispersive estimates to hyperbolic boundary problems. As director of RTG 2491, he coordinates interdisciplinary research in Fourier analysis and spectral methods. He maintains international collaborations through doctoral programs at Tbilisi State University and joint research projects with Nanjing University.
