Ingo Fischer

Prof. Dr. Ingo Fischer serves as Professor of Physical Chemistry at the Institute of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, University of Würzburg. His research focuses on advanced spectroscopic techniques using synchrotron radiation sources. Key research areas include:

Recent work has centered on unstable molecules like fulminic acid (HCNO), isocyanic acid (HNCO), and isothiocyanic acid (HNCS) with astrochemical relevance. His group conducts measurements at major synchrotron facilities including SOLEIL and Elettra. The 2022-2024 publications reveal a strong emphasis on understanding molecular fragmentation and electronic structure through advanced photoelectron and Auger spectroscopy techniques, particularly for reactive intermediates in the gas phase. Much of the current research involves quantum chemical calculations pending the Swiss Light Source's return to operation in late 2025.
