Ingo Ensminger

Ingo Ensminger is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Toronto Mississauga. His research focuses on plant-environment interactions, particularly in the context of climate science, forest ecology, and molecular physiology of trees.

• Education: Ph.D. in Plant Physiology from the University of Jena, Germany (2000); Diplom in Plant Physiology from the University of Giessen, Germany (1996).

His lab integrates biophysical experiments, molecular biology, next-generation sequencing, and remote sensing to study plant resilience to environmental change. Current projects explore low-temperature acclimation in conifers, drought stress responses, and UAV-based high-throughput phenotyping.

Recent work emphasizes trends in remote sensing applications for forest monitoring, including UAV photogrammetry and spectral-temporal analysis. Key collaborations include institutions like Université Laval and Genome Canada.
