Ingmar Weber

Ingmar Weber is a Humboldt Professor and Research Director of the Social Computing Group at Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI). He leads the establishment of the Interdisciplinary Institute of Societal Computing at Saarland University, where he advances data-driven AI research on social issues. His affiliations include postdoctoral roles at EPFL and Yahoo Research, plus visiting positions at Microsoft and Singapore Management University.

Research Focus

Weber pioneers Computational Social Science using 'Big Social Data' from platforms like Facebook and Twitter. His work integrates AI, Bayesian modeling, and traditional statistics to analyze migration, hate speech, and political polarization. He is a key contributor to AI for Social Good, developing tools to distinguish harmful online content from benign discourse.
