Inger Lise Bogen is an Associate Professor at the University of Oslo's Department of Pharmacy, within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Her research focuses on studying the short- and long-term effects of drugs of abuse, including their mechanisms of action, toxicity, metabolism, and addiction potential. She also develops analytical methods for novel psychoactive substances (NPS) and employs animal models combined with molecular biology techniques to investigate neurobiological and genetic changes. Her work emphasizes translational research for forensic toxicology and addiction treatment strategies.
- Primary affiliation: Department of Pharmacy, University of Oslo
- Research collaborations: National and international networks
Research Interests:
Her studies integrate pharmacology, toxicology, and neuroscience to address critical questions in drug addiction and environmental chemical impacts. Key areas include opioid exposure effects on fetal development, heroin metabolite analysis, and immunotherapeutic approaches to block drug effects. Her team also explores cannabis effects on the developing brain and novel fentanyl analogs' forensic implications.
Recent work highlights include studies on prenatal opioid exposure altering synaptic signaling and behavioral outcomes in rats, and advancements in liver organoid models for drug metabolism studies. Her group's contributions to analytical chemistry methods have enhanced forensic casework capabilities for detecting novel psychoactive substances.
