Professor Inger Holmström holds the Chair in Caring Science at Mälardalen University with a joint appointment at Uppsala University. A registered nurse specialized in pediatrics, she combines 15 years of clinical experience with extensive academic expertise. Her research revolutionized understanding of telephone nursing in Sweden through projects funded by the Swedish Research Council and AFA Insurance.
Research Leadership: Founded and leads the Person-centred Care and Communication research group, securing major grants to investigate healthcare communication systems. Current projects examine: (1) Triage protocols in telephone nursing, (2) Patient-provider communication in primary care settings, and (3) Person-centered care implementation frameworks.
Academic Contributions: Published over 130 scientific papers and book chapters. Supervised 15 PhD candidates to completion and serves as faculty opponent for international doctoral examinations. Research collaborations span Norway, Netherlands, and multiple Swedish universities.
University Leadership: Elected member of University Board with prior committee roles in research councils and editorial boards (BMC Nursing).
